<p>A machine for the mechanical cleaning of vegetables such as sugar beet includes a soaking and washing drum with a circumferential annulus with spiral turns and flights. This discharges the beet on a chute with an updraught shaft acting as a stone catched, followed by a conveyor surmounted by wash spray nozzles. Two separate funnels collect the waste water. Used for the sepn. of stones, the tops and other impurities from the beetroot and for the recovery of some of the used wash water.</p> |
