<p>The drive mechanism for the cylinders of a carding machine uses an electric control unit for the coupling between the control gear and the doffer roller, together with a control motor to modify the control gear ratios. The rotary movement of the doffer drum and the feed roller is generated by the shaft of the control gear through the coupling, if the control gear is set to the low limit value of its delivered rotary count. The design allows high speed operation of the carding process, with intermittent shifts from high to low speed rotation, and vice versa, without damaging the coupling.</p> |
