The transfer table for flat paper sheets (16) has a number of narrow and flat drive belts (8). The drive belts which are located side by side are moved by a roller (9) that is at the lower end of the inclined transfer table. The top face of the transfer table has flat grooves (14) for the location of each drive belt (8). The groove depth is such that the top face of the belts are level with the surface of the table. Adjustable contact rollers (11) above the table surface ensure that no slipage occurs between drive belts and paper during transfer.
