<p>The sealing element, esp. as fitted on a fire-protective door assembly, is made of an elastic hollow shaped-section piece with inserted insulating material which expands under the effect of heat. It is designed to provide effective gap sealing both when subjected to heat and under normal conditions. The hollow unit (1) incorporates two or more continuous channels (2,3), one (2) being filled with insulating material, and another remaining empty. The channels can be set close together, with an extremely thin partition (5) relative to the external walling of the unit. The insulating material (4) can be sodium silicate with low water crystal content and an amorphous water-binding filler.</p> |
