Device to improve swimming techniques consists of a membrane which partially or completely covers the triangular surface between the parted legs of the swimmer and which is anchored to the swimmers legs. The membrane includes folds or other structure elements which flap open during the stretching movement of the legs in the water aided by the water resistance or are deformed thus providing a greater degree of push-off resistance for the swimmer. The flapping open of the folds etc. may be controlled by the swimmer through a suitable mechanical anchoring system actuated by foot movements.
