The calliper type dial gauge comprises a U-channel base plate to the inner walls of which are screwed parallel guide blocks with V grooves. Between the guide rails a continuous ball-bearing guide plate glides along the length of the rails. A carrier plate is screwed to an projects outwards from the slider and an interchangeable feeler ram can be slotted into the carrier plate and held by screws is attached to a block at the end of the base plate. A dial gauge projects from the end of the base plate and its plunger passes through the fixed block to rest against the stop face of the sliding block. The instrument is suitable for internal and external measurements and the feeler arms can be changed accordingly.
