摘要 <p>A method fo discontinuously measuring the flow of radio-activity in a scintillation counter consists of taking a series of samples in succession from specimen containers by means of a hose connected to a suction pump. These samples are each successively fed into a collecting funnel with a valve at its outlet. These valve is used for metering the sample, together with a washing liquid, into a measuring vessel contained in a conventional detector. The measurement is carried out in this detector, the mixture sample then removed from the measuring vessel by pumping it out, then this measuring vessel is flushed out with a complete change of the washing liquid and a new cycle is commenced with the next specimen. Preferably, the sampling vessels are covered with a liquid possessing a high boiling point, low density and low vapour pressure, which does not mix with the specimen, and is not reactive and not toxic. In particular, this liquid may be aqualane. Used for chemical, biochemical and clinical-chemical analysis, e.g. of liquid phase from radioimmunological tests, blood samples in nuclear medicinal diagnostics and so on. The risk of confusing samples is considerably reduced. The automatic operation is considerably improved and the resultant elimination of manual operations greatly reduces the risk of contamination of the operator. The measuring vessel entirely occupies the cavity designed for it in the detector, so that readings are not falsified by differences in position of the specimen. The amt. of carry-over from one specimen to the next is extremely small, thus eliminating risk of falsification form this cause.</p>
