The railway passenger coack air-conditioning system has a high-tension power supply, and, electrically driven ventilators. An air-conditioning plant comprises a cooler, compressor, evaporator and condenser. Media are provided for system regulation and control, acting on the feed assembly on the output side to vary the frequency of the alternating current in accordance with the nominal level, and within a range dependent on the components' characteristics. This is done in such a way that the air volume for the electric ventilators and compressor is adapted to the energy requirement involved in producing comfortable conditions in the vehicle.
