<p>PURPOSE:To measure exactly a moisture content of wire-shaped bodies without contact therewith by projecting IR rays to the traveling wire-shaped bodies, obtaining the information on the moisture content from the reflectected light thereof, detecting the fluctuation of the wire density of the wire-shaped body in a measuring part and correcting the same. CONSTITUTION:The wire-shaped bodies 1 such as tire cords used for production of various tires are disposed apart from each other in parallel and are run. The IR rays which are emitted from a light source 2 and have an absorption characteristic to water are projected through a collimator lens 3 and a chopper 4 and the reflected light thereof is detected by the 1st photodetector 7. On the other hand, a fluorescent lamp 8 and a slit plate 9 are disposed on the lower side of the bodies 1 and the light having no absorption characteristic to water is projected to the wire-shaped bodies. The reflected light thereof is detected by the 2nd photodetector 10. The moisture content is obtd. by correcting the information on the moisture content of the detector 7 with the information on the fluctuation of the wire density of the detector 10. The measuring errors are therefore eliminated and the continuous measurement of the exact moisture content of the bodies 1 is made possible without contact therewith.</p> |
