<p>1502584 Putting practice device A W E GUENTHER 29 Sept 1976 [7 Nov 1975] 40452/76 Heading A6D A putting practice device comprises a barrel 18, slidable in a cylinder 10 and carrying an inverted cup 20 at its lower end, a detent for releasably holding the barrel relative to the cylinder in the position shown, and a rod 30 extending from the lower end of the barrel and carrying a disc 32, which, when raised by a golf ball 52, acts through the rod 30 to free the detent allowing the barrel to drop and the cup 20 to trap the ball. As shown, the detent comprises a ball 42 located in a transverse bore 40 of the barrel and engageable in a groove 17 of the cylinder. A ball 36 resting on a plug 44 in the bore of the barrel holds ball 42 engaged with groove 17 until ball 36 is moved upwardly by rod 30. Instead of groove 17, the cylinder may be formed with an enlarged bore section extending from its upper end. The height of the cylinder 10 with respect to supporting tripod 12 may be adjusted at clamp 16.</p> |
