<p>1502541 Valves GENERAL GAS LIGHT CO 15 Jan 1976 [24 Jan 1975] 01594/76 Heading F2V In an electromagnetically actuated valve, specially adapted for manufacture in small sizes where tolerances become important, an annular coil former 18 is held in place, in the inner cupshaped housing 11 of two telescoping housing members 3, 11, by a Belleville spring 28 acting through a valve 27 and tenons 32 on the former. A plunger 23 has a cap 26 which seats, in the energized condition of the coil, on the end of the housing 11 or alternatively, depending upon manufacturing tolerances, the lower end of the plunger 23 seats on a boss 16 on the bottom of the inner housing 11. An actuator 38, spring pressed within the plunger 23, projects through a hole 37 in the boss 16 to actuate a spring loaded valve member 71 operating in a valve housing 61. The housing 3 and the valve housing 61 are retained together by a spring pinch-wire 104 permitting mutual rotation. In an alternative embodiment (not shown), two electromagnets may be provided to drive the valve member positively in each direction. In a further embodiment, Fig. 3 (not shown), the spring 42 is omitted and the head (124) of the actuator is screwed into the plunger.</p> |
