The Japanese fighting stick known as the nunchaku is made as two separate sticks connected by a chain (3) one end. For convenience, each stick is made from two telescopic tubes (1, 2) with the chain attached to the two inner tube (1). Each inner tube has an external guide groove along it, for a peg projecting from the outer tube (2). The inner tube is pushed inwards against the force of a spring (10) inside the outer tube, acting against its flanged end. The tubes are locked open or closed by a finger operated button (8). The connecting between the tubes is assisted by an axial rod (14) with a head (15) which locks against the flanged end of the inner tube when it is extended.
|
