The gas mask has a panoramic visor, this comprising a central and two adjacent side sections. In the normal upright position the central section is straight, while the side sections curve to the rear. The central section can be arranged to extend right over the eyes, and at right angles to the normal line of sight of the wearer. The thickness of the side sections can be arranged to reduce gradually towards the outer edges.
