PURPOSE:To readily produce a saccharified starch solution with a high content of the aimed component hardly containing components having a high polymerization degree, by adding an organic solvent to a saccharified starch solution containing the components having a high polymerization degree and removing the components having a high polymerization degree. CONSTITUTION:An organic solvent is added to a saccharified starch solution containing components having a high polymerization degree, e.g. limit dextrin, etc., and further an oligosaccharide. The above-mentioned organic solvent is an alcohol, e.g. isopropanol, etc., and the saccharified solution is separated into two layers of the upper layer consisting essentially of the oligosaccharide, etc., and the lower layer consisting essentially of the components having a high polymerization degree by adding the solvent to the saccharified starch solution, stirring the resultant mixture and allowing the mixture to stand. The upper layer is separated and collected by suction, etc., and the solvent is distilled away to give a saccharide solution with a high content of the oligosaccharide which is the aimed component. The organic solvent in the lower layer is recovered for reutilization. This method is effective for preparing a stock solution used for isolating maltopentaose, etc., by chromatographic separation.
