New salt of mixed alkyl hydrogen phosphates have formula (I): ROP(O2M)-(OR2-O-P(O2M)- OR' (I) (In (I) R is 1-18 C alkyl, -R2-OH or 4-8C cycloalkyl, R' is R or M, n=1 2 3, or 4; R2 is 2-6C alkylene or -(CHR2CH2O)-x CH2CHR3- in which x=1, 2, 3 or 4, R3 is H or Me. M is H or a cation i.e. Li+, K+ or Na+. At least one of M is other than H Mol. ratio POH:P is 0.75-1.5. (I) prevents discolouration of polymers and increases degree of whiteness of polyesters filaments. (I) are nonvolatile and cheap to prepare. In an example, an ethylene Na phosphate was prepd. from an ethylene glycol and 1-octanol mixt. reacted with P2O5 and then with Na2CO3. |
