PURPOSE:To obtain the titled product suitable in the fields of paper, carpet, nonwoven fabric, etc., by polymerizing a cationic monomer, an ethylenic unsaturated carboxylic acid monomer, an aliphatic conjugated diene monomer and a monoolefin monomer using a cationic emulsifier. CONSTITUTION:The objective latex is produced by polymerizing 100pts.(wt.) of a monomer mixture composed of (A) preferably 0.5-20(wt)% cationic monomer [e.g. 3-(meth)acryloxy-2-hydroxypropyl-trimethylammonium chloride], (B) preferably 0.5-20% ethylenic unsaturated carboxylic acid monomer [e.g. (meth) acrylic acid], (C) preferably 1-80% aliphatic conjugated diene monomer (e.g. 1,3-butadiene) and (D) 0-98% monoolefin monomer copolymerizable therewith (e.g. styrene) using (E) preferably 0.1-10pts. of a cationic emulsifier.
