PURPOSE:To obtain a water-proofing sheet by uniformly holding bentonite between a water-absorbing nonwoven cloth and a water-soluble paper sheet and integrating the three layers. CONSTITUTION:A refined granular bentonite 4 is uniformly maintained between (A) a water-absorbing nonwoven cloth 2 produced by utilizing a water-absorbing fiber of e.g. polyester synthetic resin or aromatic polyamide having excellent heat resistance and (B) a water-soluble paper sheet or water-soluble film 3 and the three layers are integrated in the form of a sheet to obtain the objective water-proofing sheet. When the water-proofing sheet is brought into contact with water at the interface of a water-proofing substrate, the layer 3 is dissolved and the gelatinous bentonite 4 is directly bonded to the interface of the water- proofing substrate to form a complete water-shielding layer. Accordingly, the sheet can be effectively utilized in the water-proofing work of construction and building.
