<p>Apparatus for transversely press cutting into suitable lengths a shaped, elongated bar-like workpiece, product or section of steel which is being fed in continuously. The apparatus comprises a crank mechanism driven by a single, multi-function drive source and is adapted to perform the functions of four devices simultaneously, in a timed relation, namely a device for reciprocating a cutter in the direction of travel of the product or section, a device for advancing and retracting the cutter relative to the section, a device for driving a die opposed to the cutter, and a device for driving a clamp which holds the section during the cutting operation.</p> |
