<p>The device described enables a given layer of the atmosphere to be explored. A basket (4) containing measurement instruments and attached to a high altitude balloon system (1, 2) is made to pass through the layer of interest as often as required. The carrying system is a conventional gas filled balloon linked (1) to a solar hot air balloon (2). Altitude changes are effected by manoevering a semi-rigid valve (3) at the summit of the hot air balloon (2). The gas-filled balloon (1) is connected to the same valve. The mass of the basket may be transferred from one balloon to the other, this being carried by the opening or closing of the manoevering valve.</p> |
