The device for protecting the load in goods transport units against impacts occurring in the direction of movement has, between the individual stacks of load, intermediate panels (4) which can be fixed at the top and bottom in the goods transport unit by means of catches (10). Between the last intermediate panel (4) and the facing end panel (1) of the goods transport unit, in each case one intermediate space is provided. The intermediate panels (4) can be locked by means of the catches (10) on locking elements (11) arranged longitudinally displaceably in the goods transport unit, and are spring-loaded counter to the loading space in the longitudinal direction of the goods transport unit and are coupled to at least one shock absorber (15). The load forms with the intermediate panels (4), by virtue of the locking elements (11), a load unit which is longitudinally displaceable counter to the spring force and the effect of the shock absorber (15) in the event of shocks occurring in the longitudinal direction of the goods transport unit inside the loading space of the goods transport unit. The springs (16) are configured in such a way that the load unit is pushed back into the initial position again after the shock. <IMAGE>
