Brevibacterium is grown by submerged culture with aeration in a nutrient medium contg. molasses, N and P salts and growth promoting substances e.g. corn steep liquor and eventually concentrating the culture fluid and spray drying to obtain a solid end product. During the fermentation when the residual sugar has been reduced to 3% microorganisms are introduced with do not assimilate L-lysine but grow in the medium and utilise the residual sugars and thus prevent the occurrence of sugar-amino acid reactions which would lower the concn. of lysine and other amino acids in the end product. |
