Direct coversion of solar energy into electricity - using photoelectric cell with silver-silver halide-carbon system

Photoelectrochemical cell uses light-sensitive, porous silver halide located between two electrodes (2,4). Electrode (2) faces the light, and consists of a thin transparent layer of silver, and electrode (4) is located on the dark side of the halide, and consists of an electrically conducting material. The light sensitiver material is pref. AgBr or AgI, and may contain sensitivers. The cell is pref. made by thin film technology. The cell is less than one-hundred of the cost of conventional semiconductor photocells with the same efficiency for converting solar energy into electricity.
