<p>The airship is fitted with engines (6) mounted inside the gasbag and fired by liquid fuel from inboard tanks. The engines drive properllers (3) mounted in light pods outside the frame, with the drive via light drive shafts (5). The engines generate heat which is used to expand the gas inside the relevant cells and thus increase lift. The engine compartment inside the airship is filled with warm gas, rather like a hot air balloon so that a safe lift process is obtained. The total weight of the drive units is kept as low as possible so that the payload capacity is maximised.</p> |
