PURPOSE:To develop a superconductor with the charge density easily adjustable by forming the superconductor with La, specified rare earth elements, alkaline earth metals and CuO. CONSTITUTION:At least one kind among the oxides of rare earth elements such as Sm2O3, Eu2O3 and Gd2O3, at least one or two kinds among the oxides of alkaline earth metals such as SrCO3, BaCO3 and CaCO3 and CuO are mixed into powdery La2O3, and the mixture is calcined in the air at 1000 deg.C for 10hr. The calcined body is again crushed, pelletized, sintered in the air, heat-treated at 500 deg.C in an oxygen atmosphere kept at 500 atm, and then annealed. A superconductor having a composition expressed by the general formula (La1-p-qalphapbetaq)xCuOy is thus produced. In the formula, alpha is the rare earth elements such as Sm, Eu and Gd, beta is the alkaline earth metals such as Ca, Sr and Ba, 0.2<p<0.8, 0.025<q<0.25, 1.8<x<2.2, and 3.6<y<4.1. |
