The present invention relates to a binding for a cross-country ski. In order to interact the front end of a boot, the binding has a U-shaped shackle with two legs articulated about an axis on the ski which can extend to the side of the end, and with a transverse web parallel to this axis which can be supported on the end under the action of energy absorption devices of the shackle. The energy absorption devices have at least one resiliently deformable member which is inserted between a connecting region with the shackle and a supporting region relative to the ski. The energy absorption devices can have a simple and strong design and operate under ideal mechanical conditions.
