Price-marking labelling machine, comprising a movable subassembly (2) and a stationary housing (3), to which are connected a device (21) for drawing forwards the web (9, 148) having the labels (148) resting on it, a braking device (31) for the web, a printing unit (7), an inking unit (40), mountings (38) for the printing unit, means (45) for selecting the letters and means (39) for positioning the imprint on the labels. To improve the actuation of the braking device and to match the braking effect to the web and the operating step, the machine has a lever brake (31) which is rotatably articulated at its centre point on a journal (32) fastened to the stationary housing part (3) and of which the first end (33), in the position of rest of the machine, brakes the label web (9, 148) by means of a pressure effect exerted on it by an adjustable actuating part (35) of the movable subassembly held in the position of rest by spring force, the actuating element (35) butting against the second opposite end (34) of the lever brake (31). <IMAGE>
