<p>Grate comprises a crossbar which maintains clearances between the bars of the grate, and which is divided into sections. These sections are arranged perpendicularly to the bars of the grate, and staggered on different horizontal lines so that there is always a single crossbar section in one plance, perpendicular to the bars to the grate and passing through the longitudinal axis of the crossbar section. The crossbar sections are pref. discontinuous relative to the width of the grate, and staggered according to the height of the grate. The lower end of the crossbar section is pref. chamfered to act as a blade. System avoids obstruction of the rake on passing over a crossbar when debris accumulates on the crossbar, and prevents resistance to flow of water caused by oblique crossbars.</p> |
