The machine applies a thin coating of fine powder to sausages are transported through a closed tunnel on two vibrating conveyor grills in series. Below the conveying grills powder is stores in a supply tank where it is agitated and dispersed by rotary paddles. Pressure in the chamber is reduced to below that of atmos. so that powder is sucked up from the supply tank and sprayed over sausages progressing through the tunnel air within the tunnel becomes heavily loaded with entrained powder to which all excess to coating requirement is recycled to the supply tank. The tunnel inlet and outlet apertures are pref. covered with flexible flaps, e.g. in rubber sheet material, suspended above the conveyor level. Near the feed end of each vibrating grill; the sausages pref. pass under and thro. the strands of a vibratory brush made, e.g. of synthetic rubber. |
