Lead acid accumulator with rotationally welded plastic collars - which are around terminals projecting through ultrasonically welded cover

The lead/acid accumulator consists of a cover welded by ultrasonicy to the plastic container holding the active constituents. Plastic collars (8) are placed around the terminal posts (3) projecting through the cover to take up play between terminal and cover. The collars may be made of polypropylene and are welded to the cover by rotation. Each collar has a circular lip (9) projecting out from its top surface and sitting on a step inside the hole in the cover so that the surface of the collar is roughly coplanar with that of the cover.
