<p>The umbilical cable is for submarine use, normally connecting a surface vessel with a submerged vehicle of some kind. The cable is easily hanled and stored and carries a group of interchangeable conductor cells lying side by side held together by an overlaid bonding layer. The cable edges (1c) are expanded to enclose mechanical support lines (8) which may be dissimilar from side to side. Each of the cells (3) in the section between them is square or rectangular in section and may be extruded over their conductor groups. The entire centre section is held in position between the edge rims by flexible surface layers (10) on both of the two flat cable surfaces.</p> |
