<p>PURPOSE:To simplify the device and also to obtain a stable operation by providing a light source and a reference refracting part and detecting a variation of a relational refractive index caused by whether an object to be detected exists or not. CONSTITUTION:In the case there is no liquid, a light beam emitted from a light emitting part a is made incident on a total reflection prism b. Due to the total reflection (n1.2) prism, the light beam is converted in the 90 deg. direction twice, led to a photodetecting part c and converted to a signal of no-liquid. In the case there is a liquid, a light beam emitted from the light emitting part a is made incident on the total reflection prism b. This prism is a total reflection prism in the air but since there is a liquid, it does not become the total reflection prism due to a variation of a relational refractive index and the light beam is radiated into the liquid at a deflection angle theta1.3 by a refractive index of n1.3, and not led to the photodetecting part. Accordingly, the light beam becomes a signal of liquid-existence.</p> |
