<p>The automatic take up mechanism allows a limited off coiling of the belt to create a slack necessary for comfortable wear, with subsequent blocking of the mechanism in readines for possible emergency situations. Additionally the mechanism must allow a further off coiling even after the blocked condition, when, for instance the wearer decides to lean forward with his seat belt already strapped. The design uses the instant action of a sping mechanism which produces the required slack following a sudden jerking movement with subsequent renewed blocked condition which persists over an unlimited period.</p> |
