Optical cable consists of single fibres or fibre bundles for transmission of light and non-optical reinforcing fibres accommodated in protective tubing. The optical cable is extremely flexible and well protected against mechanical and thermal effects. Variation in the length of the cable sheathing is to be taken into account. Two reinforcing fibres (1) are embedded in the protective tubing (2) parallel to the longitudinal axis and diagonally opposite. The single fibres or fibre bundles (3) are accommodated loosely with surplus length in the protective tubing (2). The reinforcing fibres (1) are embedded in the wall of the protective tubing.
