The pluggable overvoltage arrester is intended for telecommunication lines with overvoltage arresters in the circuit breakers. The insulating plug element (1) has two retaining depressions (1a) for overvoltage conductors (3). The latter first contact surface is connected to a pair of conductors of a circuit breaker (6) via two contact tracks (2). The other conductor contact surface is connected to an earthing rail (5), intercoupling all overvoltage protection devices, via a sprung earthing sheet metal (4). Preferably the overvoltage arresting conductors are knob-shaped. The plug element may have recesses and strips for retaining the contact tracks and the earthing sheet metal.
