Spherical combustion chamber for gas turbines - has spherical secondary wall with inlets accelerating swirling in combustion chamber

The combustion chamber, especially for gas turbines, has cylindrical outside tube and spherical main combustion zone. Fuel and air blown into this zone centrally through peripheral side holes are swirled in the main combustion zone. The arrangement ensures uniform temp. variation and it has very short flame tube. Hence the combustion chamber is short and it is readily fitted into a motor vehicle engine compartment. The secondary wall (21) of the main combustion zone is pref. of spherical shape. The secondary air inlet openings (19) have deflecting baffles (20) for directing secondary air to flow against the main flow direction for accelerating the circular swirling in the secondary wall area.
