<p>A container is made childproof by an annular insert with inside teeth which act against the collar on the neck, and with outside ratchet teeth which act against ratchet teeth on the cap. The cap can thus be screwed down but is normally prevented from unscrewing by the ratchet action. The pref. material for the container is a soft plastic, suitable for blow moulding, such as polyethylene. The pref. material for the insert is a harder plastic, suitable for injection moulding, such as polypropylene. This system can be applied to all conventional containers and bottles and saves expensive changes of tooling and dies.</p> |
