<p>In an activated sludge sewage treatment plant, the aeration tank has two circular tracks, each for one aeration bridge. The peripheral wall of the tank consists of two outer semi-circles, joined by two tangential sections in the centre. The tracks in the centre are carried on semi-circular supports resting on stays in the aeration tank. This oval tank has adequate capacity, yet is easier to prepare and to supervise than a purely circular tank of large diameter. The flow conditions can be controlled more easily.</p> |
