Novel 1-hydroxy-3:6-disulpho-8-acetamino-2-(3'-phosphonophenylazo)napht- halene and its salts are prepd. by reacting N-acetyl-H-acid with diazotised m-aminobenzene-phosphoric acid in the presence of suitable additives. Used as a red azo dyestuff for cellulose fibres, e.g. cotton, used pref. as the ammonium or acid ammonium salt. It may be used under acid conditions and together with suspension dyestuffs.
