The internal-expanding brake for motor vehicles has a floating actuator on the backplate. One shoe bears against a fixed a abutment at the end furthest from the actuator, while inside the other is a lever bearing at one end on a fixed abutment and at the other on the actuator, the second shoe bearing against this lever. To allow use as an overrunning brake for trailers, the trailing shoe (7) is the one near the lever (13), which bears against it via a roller (16) working against a ramp face (74) on the inside of the shoe. The distance of this face from the brake drum (18) increases in the direction away from the actuator.
|
