<p>Air cushion vehicle comprises a drive mechanism consisting of motor and compressor, for conveying compressed air into a ring jet channel which consists of air inlet, and ring nozzle, (3) and which conforms in shape to the outer circumference of the vehicle of any shape. The compressor consists of >=1 row of guide vanes and >=1 belt traveller which consists of a flexible belt with rotor blades. The belt and row of guide vanes are mounted directly one above the other, forming one stage of the compressor. The belt may be transverse flexible and longitudinally expandable, and runs over slide blocks and/or rollers. Where slide blocks are used, the slide surfaces of the belt rotor or of the slide blocks are made of "Teflon" (RTM). The vehicle has a more favourable specific wt. a more stable hover position, and a larger useable area, and runs more quietly.</p> |
