Step counting system for stacks of items - with electro-acoustic sonic converter receiving input from sensing lever

Step counting system is designed esp. for counting layers in stacks of items. A sensing lever, coupled to the diaphragm of an electro-acoustic sonic converter, is moved over the steps or gaps in the stack, and the electrical output pulses from the converter are counted. Pref. a pulse counting circuit connected to the converter output comprises an amplifier, a low-pass filter, a Schmitt trigger and a counter. Pref. two non-retriggerable monoflops are connected in the pulse counting circuit between the Schmitt trigger and an error signal generating NAND-element.
