摘要 <p>Embedding of a permanent magnet of lanthanides and Co in a metallic matrix involves placing the magnet in a casting mould and pouring in the liquid matrix material, which then sets and forms a strong mechanical bond. The embedded magnets can be used in machines, appts. and installations, e.g., for flywheels, stators and rotors for electric motors, holding magnets, couplings, magnetic bearings, microwave components, switches and magnetic brakes. The process is economical, simple and reliable and minimises impairment of the magnetic properties. It is suitable for mass prodn. The magnetics of the type LnX5 or Ln2X17 (in which Ln is lanthanides and Y; X is Co, Fe, Cr, Mn, Cu), whilst the matrix can be an Al, Mg, Zn or Cu alloy. Embedding can be carried out by chill casting, injection die-casting or pressure casting. The magnet and mould should be preheated before casting to minimise thermal shock.</p>
