<p>A dehydrator assembly for drying the air entering the intake of a blast furnace comprises a chamber divided internally by a partition into drying and regeneration zones, there being one or more gas-permeable rotors so mounted within the casing as to extend radially across the two zones. The rotor is impregnated with a moisture absorbent which is treated while in the regeneration zone with hot gases obtd. by combustion of a waste gas. In the dehydration zone there is provided a pre-cooler upstream of the rotor, a relative humidity regulator between the pre-cooler and the rotor and an after-cooler downstream from the rotor. A cooling medium is circulated through the regulator and the after-cooler. Appts. utilises the furnace waste gases for regenerating the moisture absorbent, while the provision of a pre-cooler removes a major part of the impurities in the air flow and minimised contamination of the absorbent material.</p> |
