<p>1500865 Odometers OFA PETERSON 20 April 1976 15916/76 Heading G1K [Also in Division F2] An odometer assembly for a golf cart comprises a settable distance counter 13 mountable on the handle of the cart, a drive disc 22 securable to a ground-engaging wheel 10 of the cart and incorporating a ring of gear teeth 27, a gear unit 29 with a bracket 32 whereby it can be mounted adjacent the disc 22 with a pinion 31 therein meshing the ring gear 27, and a flexible cable drive 17 connecting the gear unit 29 to the counter 13. With the cable 17 connected to the counter at 16A, as shown, the indicia 14 register the yards or metres travelled by the cart. With the connection at 16, and the length of the hole being played being set initially on the counter, the indicia 14 show a decreasing figure as the cart travels, to provide a direct reading of the remaining distance to the hole. The disc 22 is diametrically split at 23, with interlocking lips (24), Fig. 3 (not shown), and is secured to the inner face of the ground wheel 10 by bolts 25. The bracket 32 clamps on to the axle 11 carrying the ground wheel 10. A second bracket 37 on the gear unit 29 loosely engages the rim 28 of the disc to hold the gears 27, 31 in mesh.</p> |
