Brackets 36, 38 fixed to the outer tube on each side of the slot are moved towards each other to cause frictional engagement between the two tubes by the interaction of a cam 52 fixed to a rotatable shaft 46 with a cam 54 fixed to the bracket 38. The detent 58 is also mounted on the shaft which is biased towards a position in which the detent engages the slot 60 and the tubes are frictionally engaged by a spring 62. |
