1501392 Window operating mechanisms ARTHUR SHAW MFG Ltd 9 May 1975 [9 Feb 1974] 6027/74 Heading E2M In a window of the type in which a sash 1 is pivotally hung (by means not shown) within a frame 2 an actuating mechanism comprises: control levers 9 pivoted at one end to the frame at 10 and engaging guide elements 5 on the sash, and an actuator 11 secured to the frame and acting on the levers to allow a normal range of movement; the guide elements 5 being pivotable with respect to the sash at 6 when locking elements 7 are released to allow the sash to be pushed to an increased range of movement (shown in broken lines on Fig. 2). As shown frame and sash are aluminium sections joined by double armed stays and the actuator 11 comprises a crank handle acting through gearing 21 on a lever 13 and a link 15 although frame and sash can be constructed from timber, steel or plastics any form of pivotal collection can be used and the actuating mechanism can take other forms e.g an electric motor. Locking elements 7 are channel sections pivoted to the sash by friction hinges. In a modified mechanism levers 9 can be released from elements 5. |
