The catalyst is prepd. by (1) impregnating a porous support with a soln. of a salt of >=1 of the elements Ag, Pr, Nd, Tb or Dy, drying the support, and activating by heating to 100-500 degrees C, (2) coating a support with a suspension of silver oxide and a salt of >=1 of the elements, drying and activating by heating at 200-500 degrees C, or (3) suspending reduced silver in an aqs. soln. of a salt of >=1 of the elements, adding an aqs. soln. of an alkali(ne earth) metal hydroxide in order to ppt. the element as hydroxide on the reduced siliver, and separating, washing and drying the material. |
