1343530 Polymer of polycyclic polyenes SNAM PROGETTI SpA 2 Sept 1971 [3 Sept 1970] 41089/71 Heading C3P Polymers of polycyclic polyenes containing conjugated double bonds are obtained by polymerizing the monomer(s) in the presence of a cationic-type catalyst comprising a halide of a Group II-VIII element. The halide may be complexed with water, an alcohol, an acid, an ether or an alkyl halide. In examples, the catalyst used is one of BF 3 /OEt 2 , TiCl 4 , Et 2 AlCl/ tertbutyl chloride or EtAlCl 2 ; n-heptane or methylene chloride is used as solvent; and the following monomers are used: (A) 1-isopropylidene-dicyclopentadiene, (B) 1-isopropylidene- 3a,4,7,7a-tetrahydroindene, (C) dehydrodicyclopentadiene, (D) a mixture of A and B, and (E) a mixture of A and isoprene. |
