<p>Dressed animal furs are processed by cutting on both sides of the back at a distance from the centre line two strips of equal width, amounting to half the width of the dorsal strip. Their length is chosen in such a way that the air structure remains uniform after the pairs of strips have been sewn together along the edges facing each other. Method reduces labour needed for conventional herringbone type of cutting and re-sewing. The material, wasted for the many sewn seams is also saved. The latter can in the case of mink amount to a saving of four pelts per fur coat. In the case of mink, the fur is cut into five strips (2-6). The strips (3-6) are of equal width but only half the width of the dorsal strip (2). The strip (2) extends from the tail end (9) to the cut (7) near the front legs, the strips (3,4) run from the tail end (9) further forward to the cut (10), and the strips (5,6) extend from the tail end (9) to the cut (11) near the head. The outer strips (15,16) are sewn to each other along the facing edges by a straight seam, followed by drawing a sinusoidal line. After wetting this line is stretched into the position where the straight seam was and the fur is fixed in this position and allowed to dry. Two strips of 4 mm width are cut at a distance of 2mm from the centre line of the dorsal strip (2). These are used at the junctions between strips (3,4) and (5,6).</p> |
