1501004 Oxidative esterification catalysts BASF AG 2 May 1975 [3 May 1974] 18368/75 Heading B1E [Also in Division C2] A catalyst composition comprising palladium and at least one element, phosphorus, arsenic, antimony, bismuth, selenium and tellurium is used for the preparation of butenediol diacetate by reaction of butadiene with oxygen and acetic acid. The catalyst may be supported on a carrier e.g. active charcoal, silica gel, silicic acid, alumina, clay, bauxite, magnesia, kieselguhr and pumice. The carrier may be introduced into mixed solutions of the salts followed by evaporation and reduction, or a precipitant e.g. alkali metal hydroxide, is added followed by reduction. Examples describe the evaporation and reduction of palladium chloride and tellurium dioxide on active charcoal. |
